- Antecedent.
The noun phrase that a pronoun refers to.
- Article.
A determiner that marks definiteness “
the” or indefiniteness (

an).
- Closed class.
A word class with fixed membership that rarely accepts new words.
- Demonstrative.
A word that points to specific entities (
this,
that,
these,
those).
- Determiner.
A closed-class word that introduces a noun phrase and specifies reference.
- Indefinite pronoun.
A pronoun referring to unspecified entities (
someone,
everyone).
- Interrogative pronoun.
A pronoun used in questions (

The NP that follows and completes a preposition.
