Aspect.
A grammatical category describing the internal temporal structure of events.
Auxiliary verb.
A verb that combines with a main verb to add grammatical information.
Past tense.
The tense marked by -ed or irregular forms, typically indicating past time.
Perfect aspect.
Aspect formed with have + past participle, connecting a past event to a later time.
Present tense.
The tense marked by base form or -s, used for habits, states, and general truths.
Primary auxiliary.
The auxiliaries be, have, and do.
Progressive aspect.
Aspect formed with be + -ing, presenting events as ongoing.
Simple aspect.
Aspect presenting events as complete wholes without internal structure.
Tense.
A grammatical category locating events in time through verb inflection.
Time.
The conceptual domain of when events occur (past, present, future).
