Ambiguity.
When a sentence has more than one possible interpretation.
Antecedent.
The noun that a pronoun refers to.
Dangling modifier.
A modifier that doesn’t logically connect to any element in the sentence.
Faulty parallelism.
A coordination error where joined elements are not in the same grammatical form.
Misplaced modifier.
A modifier positioned away from what it modifies, creating confusion.
Parallel structure.
Grammatical similarity among coordinated elements.
Pronoun reference.
The relationship between a pronoun and its antecedent.
Readability.
The ease with which text can be read and understood.
Squinting modifier.
A modifier ambiguously positioned between two elements it could modify.
Structural ambiguity.
When a sentence’s grammatical structure allows more than one interpretation.
